Eikõn & Klan
Eikõn is the ecclesiastical Greek for 'likenness/image' with Klan meaning 'to break'; the two together form the word eikonoklastēs – iconoclasm.
Eikõn & Klan originates in my Christian upbringing and gradual loss of faith several years ago. This movement away from belief involved, on the one hand, a necessary iconoclasm, a breaking of things once held to be of value; on the other, a remaking, tempered by an awareness and even regret for what was lost. These tensions create an indeterminate space where belief is simultaneously rejected and desired, grieved for and reformed.
